SWA’s Executive Committee, comprising of 31 members (including 7 Office Bearers, 21 regular members and 3 associate members); administers the affairs of the Association. It is duly elected biennially in the General Body Election Meeting. The Executive Committee meets once a month. However, emergency meetings can be held whenever necessary.
The 7 Officer Bearers oversee the functioning of the EC, helping it take decisions effectively and efficiently and are responsible for implementing the objectives of the Association.
The PRESIDENT presides over the meetings of the Executive Committee.
The two VICE PRESIDENTS fulfill the duties of the President in his/her absence.
The GENERAL SECRETARY serves as the Chief Executive Officer, on honorary basis, of the Association and is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of its office. The two JOINT SECRETARIES assist the General Secretary in the performance of his/her tasks and duties, and in his/her absence.
The TREASURER is responsible for maintaining due accounts of the finances of the Association.

The Dispute Settlement Sub-Committee (DSC) is a QUASI-LEGAL body set up by the Screenwriters Association for the sole purpose of MEDIATION and CONCILIATION between its members and members of other craft associations, including producers/employers.

The Welfare Sub-Committee administers and executes the welfare schemes run by the Association. The Membership Verification Sub-Committee, set-up by the Executive Committee of the Screenwriters Association, scrutinizes and verifies the applications for Life, Regular and Associate membership.

The purpose of Legal Aid Committee shall include evaluating the merits of a matter recommended to it for legal aid and to co-ordinate and negotiate with such legal counsels, advocates or other persons as necessary, as well as carry out other functions as stipulated hereinbelow from time to time. Further, the Executive Committee shall also approve a legal aid fund which shall be utilized to
offer financial aid to such matters as deemed fit for legal aid by the Legal Aid Committee. A yearly budget shall be proposed by the Legal Aid Committee to the Executive Committee for its approval in its first meeting. In no year shall the total legal aid disbursed exceed 20% of the net surplus of SWA in the previous year.
This is in tune with SWA's legal activities such as securing representation of its members on delegations, commissions, committees etc. set-up by the government or other bodies, including the court of law, with issues concerning screenwriters or screenwriting. SWA has also engaged a Copyright expert lawyer (SWA's Legal Officer) to provide legal consultation to SWA members and judicial backing to the Association.

The Event Sub-Committee of SWA conducts events, including seminars, workshops, panel discussions, webinars (online events) and talks etc., which promote the aims and objectives of the Association. SWA events provide a platform to SWA members as well as other screenwriters to learn, network and interact.

The Media Sub-Committee aims to encourage the presence and prominence of screenwriters; by educating, sensitizing, and promoting the appreciation of screenwriting in media and the public mind, while also spreading awareness about the struggle and importance of SWA.

Internal Committee (IC) of the Screenwriters Association has been formed in compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PPR) Act, 2013. Within that framework and beyond, SWA’s Internal Committee offers full support to any member who is facing such harassment/discrimination, irrespective of gender or sexuality. It also actively pursue effective awareness programs that promote gender equality and gender sensitisation in our industry and also works towards making SWA a gender friendly and safe workplace for all its employees, members, and visitors.

SWA Awards is an annual Awards Event celebrating the best of screenwriting in the country. It was started in the year 2020 on the occasion of SWA's Diamond Jubilee year. It is the only award in India dedicated entirely to screenwriters and lyricists of Hindi Feature Films, Hindi TV shows, and Hindi Web series. The vision behind these awards is to celebrate outstanding screenwriting work, unbiased by the box-office numbers / TRPs / budgets, etc. Judged by a jury of eminent screenwriters, SWA Awards aims to be the most coveted and prestigious awards for writers in India, at par with the screenwriting awards instituted by international writers guilds across the world.

The Education Sub-committee grants SWA Scholarships for the students of PG Diploma in Screenwriting Course at FTII (Film & television Institute of India), Pune. It currently awards two scholarships of INR 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) each to the students of the said institute, every year. The selection criteria includes both - the merit and the economic situation of the student.
